Exploring Tanzania’s un-touristed wilderness just south of the Kenyan border between Amboseli National Park to the north east and the Serengeti to the far west. There are several routes, depending on the time of year.
Adventurous, fun and exhilarating, using a movable, traditional-style, tented safari camp. The first night is usually in a small hotel or private lodge close to Arusha and then you stay in private tented camps, set up and moved ahead by an excellent back-up team. Serengeti Safaris explore the huge open plains of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro ecosystems in north west Tanzania; Kilimanjaro Elephant Rides take you to Arusha National Park and then on a circular route below the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and towards the edge of Amboseli National Park and Natron Flamingo Rides follow a little used route through dry desolate country to the shores of Lake Natron, the biggest soda lake in East Africa.
Traditional safari lovers, who enjoy exciting, often fast, riding and have a sense of adventure. The safaris are a ‘journey’ from camp to camp – although you don’t always move camp every day so there is still time to relax, enjoying the peace of a private camp location with hot showers, sundowners and atmospheric dinners against the night sounds of the bush. These are a wonderful choice for anyone wanting an insight into how local Masai tribes people continue their traditional way of life and a chance to see the contrasting landscapes of northern Tanzania. Its vast sense of space allows exhilarating riding and you can be sure of the best hospitality. For those with less time, shorter 3 night safaris may be possible, exploring Arusha National Park.
For all the things above – the adventure, the safari living, the exciting riding, the top-notch hospitality of the local team – all in a remote, off the beaten track setting, you’d be hard pushed to get to except on a horse. Tanzania Horse Safaris (formally operating as Kazkazi Horse Safaris) have been running adventurous riding safaris in Tanzania for more than 10 years and Jo and her team know a thing or two about doing it right. They’ll give you adventure, conviviality, great horses and hospitality, whilst showing you the best of this amazing country.
