In Kenya following a camp-to-camp route along the northern edge of the Mara game reserve between the Loita hills and the Mara River.
The area you’ll ride through is predominantly open, rolling grassland plains, with patches of thick bush and woodland. There are rocky hillsides where the escarpment drops into the Rift valley, and the Mara River winds its way through bush en-route to Lake Victoria in the west. There are no fences, just magnificent views over distant hills and there’s game all around …. zebra, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, monkeys, baboons, hippo, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena and a huge variety of colourful birdlife. Riding between carefully chosen campsites you feel ”in” the landscape, amongst the game and part of the natural environment – yet your bed will be comfortable, your shower hot, your drinks cold and your senses alive. The company? Adventurous, inspiring, knowledgeable and fun – in fact, all you could wish for as safari companions.

You’ll need to be confident to ride from camp-to-camp across country, over varied terrain where there is ‘big’ (and potentially dangerous) game and where you can meet the unexpected at any turn. You should also be riding fit – the open going cries out for long, exhilarating canters and the pace may be fast. Camps will be comfortable, service in them exemplary, but authentic safari style rather than modern amenities, is the camp byword.
